He took his work as one of Santa's Helpers very seriously
and would always stop and talk to children no matter what time of year.
He drove a red truck and wore a baseball hat
with the letters FROA (Flying Reindeers Operators Association).

To almost two year old Karma,
when she saw him in his Santa suit, he became "Santa Pa".
Karma lived with her parents,in her "Pa's" home
while they were helping care for him
during his last illness at the end of his life.
Karma had a strong connection with her Grandpa
and asked many questions about his life as she got a bit older.

Karma's charity organization
(which currently consists of family members and Karma as President)
is called "Santa Pa's Helpers" in memory of her Grandpa.
Every December, Santa Pa Helpers decide which organization
is going to receive funds from Karma's crafts...
and her other fund raising efforts.

Organizations such as the Heifer Project
was one of her Pa'a favorites...
as a POW in Germany during WWII...
hunger was something he intimately understood.
Because the Heifer project helps feed hungry children it
has become one of Karma's favorites too.
